The hotel was brilliant. As a single female traveller I felt very comfortable, the staff was lovely and were very helpful. I arrived early in the morning and the room was ready for me (four hours before check in time! Just fantastic after a long overnight flight). All spoke good English and were were welcoming and always smiling. They anticipated ones needs and were always happy to help. The pool area is lovely, good computers and fast internet. The location of the Vieng Mantra is fantastic, easy access to Chiang Mai's attractions. Lots of restaurants near by and easy transport to others. Very good value as a mid priced hotel. I highly recommend it. In fact my best friend is going in July and on my recommendation she has also booked the Vieng Mantra....
The pool is a bit cold, but as I was there at the warmest time of the year it was great.
location and room not what i like
Good location and rooms, maintained pool, quiet (on pool side), great staff. Don't look for luxury here, but the overall experience is very good. Definitely I recommend this hotel to everyone.
The furniture could be upgraded for the money, but is not too bad.
Excellen small hotel, with nice large rooms and friendly staff. In the (old) centre of Chiang Mai so a great base for exploring the old town ans urrounding areas
Breakfast is is prepared very early and a bit overcooked even if you take it at a relatively early 8:00 am
Perfecly lokated just within the old city, walking distance to most points of interest. Our room faced a quiet courtyard with a nice swimmingpool. Well designed hotel, clean, nice staff, and good breakfast. My partner and I will stay at the Vieng Mantra Hotel again the next we visit Chiang Mai. I booked a parkingspace outside the hotel well in advance.
All the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful especially the slightly older slim girl on reception (didn't get her name). The hotel is in a good location with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby but you have to cross a very busy road to get to the river and night bazaar side of the city. The hotel is just a few yards away from the Sunday market which was very good.
There are lots of mosquitos around the computers in the pool area so beware if you're prone to bites!
like the balcony where you can read and relax.
no insects repellents, lots mosquitos inside room.
I chose the hotel according to the good comments from other guests. I didn't know much about Chiang Mai, but would like to stay at the old town. The hotel turned out to be the excellent part of our stay at Chiang Mai. It is cosy and convenient. It has few guests due to the hotel's size. Some of them are old guests. One day, a family checked out, the father said see you next year. I guess because it is very nice hotel for family to stay. The design of the hotel is very Thai. All furniture are wooden. The swimming pool is nice to have a dip during your stay. Breakfast is quite nice. The location is very ideal too. Not far from the night market and day market. But you have to cross two busy streets. The hotel is full of vegies, very green. I would like to stay here again if travelling to Chiang Mai again.
The location within the old city was great, we were able to walk to a lot of locations, or catch a convenient tuk tuk or taxi to go further afield. The front desk staff were very helpful in setting up day trips, they were there 24 hours, which was great when our flight was delayed to the wee hours. The swimming pool was a welcome relief on hot days, as was the air conditioning which many places do not have. Breakfast buffet was adequate, room was clean and comfy. I'd recommend it to anyone. Across the street was a great tailor, Mr. Cherm, who made us some beautiful fitted vests. Also across the street was a small but dynamite massage place where we got the best foot massages of any place we went to.
It would have been nice if there was one chair, at least, in the room or on the balcony. Perhaps the deluxe room had a chair?
The shower curtain in the bath needs to be replaced, because there was a lot of mold
It was fantastic ... The staff are so helpful... The location just off the walking night market in the old town ... One has everything ... Full breakfast great selection will stay there again... Will take all the family there next year as the Mantra is extending it will be amazing. Linda Barrett from Melbourne Australia
Great staff, Quiet hotel, Very clean! Also, perfect location in the old city, near the Sunday walking market.
Great service and deluxe rooms are fantastic! Amazing location in the old city too and everything was clean.
Vieng mantra was a great boutique style hotel. Staff very friendly. Rooms were very clean with a comfortable bed and good linen. Bathroom was small but good water pressure. Pool was terrific. Crystal clear and looked fantastic . It was very refreshing after walking around the oil city.
It would have been nice to order lunch around the pool, but they did not have that service
great location and nice sweet hotel
when there are more people have breakfast together, the food supply in slower than the need
